Trauma-informed Counselling Practice

Service Description

This is deep, somatically-informed work, a dedicated room, a settled space, the kind of quiet that lets the nervous system actually drop its guard. We work with what's beneath the surface: the patterns that keep repeating, the beliefs that formed somewhere along the way, and the body's own record of what's been carried. Rather than staying purely cognitive, we bring the nervous system into the conversation — noticing what tension, stillness, or activation might be telling you that words alone can't reach. Sessions move at a collaborative pace. You're not handed a fixed protocol; we build understanding layer by layer, following what's actually alive in you session to session. This space is for anxiety, burnout, relationship strain, and life transitions — for anyone ready to be met without judgment, and to leave with more clarity, less reactivity, and language for what was once just a feeling. Some transitions are quieter than others. A relationship, a career, an identity, a life chapter — quietly closing, whether or not you've named it yet. This work holds room for those endings too: Endings — for the relationship, career, identity, or life chapter that is coming to an end. Grief — for the losses we know how to name, and the ones we don't. Mortality — for anyone wanting somewhere to explore death, fear, meaning, and unfinished business. I trained as a counsellor in Australia and bring 20 years across exercise physiology, counselling, yoga, and energy work into how I practice — which means the body isn't an afterthought here, it's part of the map from the start. What you get is depth without hierarchy: real training behind the work, held within a collaborative relationship, not a clinical dynamic. To be clear about what this is: I'm a counsellor, not a clinical counsellor — I don't diagnose, and this isn't a substitute for clinical or medical care if that's what you need. What I offer instead is a steady, trained space to work through what's coming up, at your pace, without a diagnostic lens over the top of it. I hold three things alongside each other in every session — the science of how the nervous system works, the steadiness to hold whatever comes up without flinching from it, and flow to follow what's true for you rather than a fixed script. If you've tried approaches that stayed only in your head, or felt too clinical to actually land, this is built to work differently. Held in person, at the Marda Loop Studio

Ember 'n Echo is based in Calgary, Alberta, on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy — Siksika, Kainai, and Piikani — the Tsuut'ina Nation, and the Îyâxe Nakoda Nations, within the boundaries of Treaty 7. The Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, also calls this home. I carry with me a deep respect for the Turrbal and Jagera peoples of Brisbane, and the Wakka Wakka people of Murgon, on whose Country I was shaped. I am grateful to live and work on this land
